We are pleased to announce the migration of server OWL on Sunday August 07, 2005 at 1.00 PM GMT 5.30+ on
our new heavy duty server.
Our new Heavy Duty Server is loaded with the following configuration :
New Server Configuration :
Dell Poweredge Server
Dual Xeon 2.8 Ghz Processor.
2 GB ECC Ram
2 X 80 Gb SATA Drives
Windows 2003 Std
Daily Network Backup
We'll be migrating all resellers and customers on the new servers. Please find below the details of the migration schedule.
Migration Date : Sunday, August 07, 2005
Migration Time : The migration would start on Sunday, August 07 2005 11 AM IST ( GMT 5.30 +)
Scope of Work : All users accounts/web data and package information would be copied to the new server during this process. All reseller packages & settings would be copied and migrated as it is on the new server.
Effect of Work : During the migration we have scheduled everything to offer zero downtime to all our customers. We'll be keeping same IP block on the new server so no downtime due to DNS propagation will occur.
What we expect from you : Records indicate that you are on our server "owl.itsoul.com" . If you are having any SSL certificates which you got installed on the server or any other custom settings like write permissions then update us so we may do the same in advance for your clients
Why is the migration done : Owl has completed its 2 years on the current box and our commitment towards quality of service requires that we upgrade our hardware to the latest available configurations every 2 years. Current configuration of OWL is Pentium 4 2.8 Processor with 1.5 GB Ram while the new configuration is Dual Xeon 2.8 with 2 GB Ram. More processing & memory means that your websites would load faster & better configuration would give you an extra edge while you compete with your competitors.
Is their any downtime involved : Not really ! We are keeping the same IP Block, same network & even the same rack which means you can expect very little or zero downtime from us during the migration.
